Teachers can show they care for students in a variety of ways. Besides the compliments for academic and personal accomplishments, a teacher can have an informal conversation with children. These conversations build trust and allow there to be a mutual sharing of interests. Humor is also encouraged. A smile, high five, and a pat of the shoulder are just a few ways a teacher can show affection.
